2015 was a rough year for most people especially the latter part but we launch into 2016, here are some startup ideas for anyone looking to start a startup in 2016.
Payment abroad - like paypal
With the current naira restriction policy been implemented by
the central back on Nigeria, This would be a good time to start a web payment
platform. Sort of like paypal where you can load your account in naira here in Nigeria
and then pay online. For the various web designers, programmers small and
medium scale business buying goods online, this will come really handy.
Fuel delivery –
like Uber for fuel
The current administration has just confirmed that there
will be a reduction of the price of fuel to 85naira per liter coupled with the
current fuel situation in Nigeria an Uber for fuel will come in handy. You could
arrange with the filling station for exclusive supply and you could just supply
it to clients based on their fuel usage on a subscription bases either weekly
or monthly. I must also say that with the many types of people who like me dislike
going and lining up at the filling stations, your service will really easy my
laziness.
Security - Infrared
bomb detector
Am sure you already get this one but if have never lived in
the north, you might not understand the scare we really go through when in a
public places with many people either it is in the church, mosque, motor parks
or in the market. An infrared bomb detector will really sell for the numerous churches,
mosques, and hotels. Remember also that security agencies will also be some of
your biggest customers.
Games – Educative games
We all love to play games but why not gamify education such learning
a particular subject while playing the game in a fun manner that I don’t even
fill like I am learning. I remember playing “who ones to be a millionaire” game
on our old desktop as a kid answering questions on U.S history and culture
which though I was never taught I still loved it and leant a lot.
Power – cheaper inverter
or solar panels
Power is one problem all Nigerian face on a regular bases. With
the epileptic situation of power now you could create a cheap inverter with a solar
panel just for emergencies. The last time I priced one it was about a hundred thousand
naira. If you could find a way to lower the cost of the solar panels or the
inverter maybe buy from Chinese manufacturers and sell straight to us at a
cheap price will be something I really love to get one and I believe so will
other people.
